Horror Opening Ideas so far...

¨       A montage of white paper being folded. The idea that a long time has passed from different lighting. Drops of blood onto the white paper to give a sinister effect. Repetitively creepy. At the end a medium long shot of the room completely filled with origami crane, some bloody from repetitiveness and paper cuts. Hands could change, progressively getting more gruesome throughout the montage.

¨       A white spirit girl with distorted face or creepy stare. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgYxydrVlDk

¨       A doorway in which the victim is completely shadowed from the dark room but the hallway is lit.

¨       A music box to stimulate the monster/spirit, the repetitiveness associates the sharp lullaby with the danger that will follow. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0gBeG31fX40

¨       Silhouetted branches – look like bones.

¨       Sudden stop of sound before the incident, silence before lullaby begins to play and LOUD music when ghoul is first sighted. Fast zoom in reaction shot of the victim’s face to connote extreme fear and surprise. (potentially followed by long pause and continued shock or black screen accompanied by the film title.)

¨        False sense of security.

¨       Slow camera turn when looking round corners to create fear of the unknown.

¨       Whispering “hello...can anyone hear me?” (Black screen) cut to guy sprinting and stumbling through a forest or empty street. Cut back to the whispering overlapped by frantic banging and screaming for help.

¨       Montage of someone painting with their hands in blood until the end when a mid-long shot is seen that the image is a hanging man or other gruesome image – can use spare wallpaper over someone’s walls to paint on.

¨       Flickering lights.

¨       The idea that something or someone is controlling a persons mind and they have to ability to stop this from happening. For example in Donnie Darko, Frank the Rabbit controls Donnie's mind, and forces him to do things he otherwise wouldn't have done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw9YfZF48_U
